Dhungel supporters disrupt Occupy Baluwatar sit-in

Members of the Occupy Baluwatar movement, who have been demanding that Police arrest murder-convict and Bal Krishna Dhungel, have said that supporters of the former lawmaker disrupted their protest in the Capital on Sunday morning.
The movement said that Maoist cadres in the guise of 'People's Rights forum' staged a sit-in outside the PM's residence just before Occupy Baluwater campaigners were due to do the same. They tore and burnt down pamphlets, posters and banners used by the Occupy Baluwatar. They also chanted slogans touting Dhungel as 'people's hero'.
Two days earlier, UCPN (M) party's Devendra Paudel and Lila Bahadur Thapa, coordinators of Newa and Kirat state committees, had said in a statement that the party's attention has been drawn to the campaign, "aimed at disturbing the election environment in the country."
An Occupy Baluwatar particiapnt said that police detained around eight Occupy Baluwatar participants "to ward off potential strife."
As part of the Occupy Baluwatar movement, members of the general public have been staging protests outside the Prime Minister's official residence demanding action against perpetrators of violence against women. Recently, the movement took up the case of Maoist leader Dhungel, who still not behind bars even after was convicted of murdering Ujjan Shrestha of Okhaldhunga. nepalnews.com
